WATER WORKS.
Distributing Water Mains, $15,000.-This work is necessary in view of the rapid extension of building operations in New Kowloon.
PORT WORKS.
Further Reclamation at Sham Shui Po, $10,000.-This sum will com- plete the contract for the reclamation and seawall at present under con-
struction.
Cheung Sha Wan-Construction of rubble mound to retain materials dumped, $75,000.--This provides for the extension of a rubble mound that will ultimately carry a sea wall to the north of the Shamshuipo Reclama- tion and when finished will allow of the dumping of material behind the mound without danger to the silting up of the harbour.
Shamshuipo Ferry Pier, $55,000.—This sum is provided to complete the pier which was started in 1929. It replaces the existing Ferry Pier which is old and unsuitable for present conditions. (See item No. 72).
PUBLIC HEALTH AND BUILDINGS ORDINANCE.
Compensation and Resumption, $100,000.-This vote is necessary for the acquisition of buildings and land necessitated by the Town Planning Lay out of New Kowloon, and for the alignment and widening of existing streets. It is impossible to estimate accurately the requirements on this vote, but it is desirable to resume such vacant land rather than wait until costly build- ings have been erected.

GENERAL WORKS.
Roads, $2,000.-This amount is necessary to meet the growing re- quirements of certain large and important Market Towns in the New Ter- ritories.
Drainage. (a) Training Nullahs, $2,000.—This vote is for additional nullah training to improve drainage conditions and to prevent breeding places for mosquitoes.
(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works, $5,000.-This sum is necessary to meet the growing requirements of the New Territories.
Miscellaneous, $7,500. This vote is for various general works in connection with Police Stations Lighthouses and Villages as may be found necessary and desirable during 1930.
Water Works, $1,000.-Necessary to meet requirements in connection. with Water Works extension during 1930.
COMMUNICATIONS.
Patrol Path from Lin Ma Ilang to Sha Tau Kok, $50,000.-This Est- imate has now been increased to $80,000. This road is a continuation of the Sheung Shui-Ta Ku Ling-Lin Ma Hang Patrol Path. It is 6 ft. wide and is required as a useful means of traversing the frontier between Lin Ma Hang and Sha Tau Kok. The amount provided is for the comple- tion of the work.
